CameraCue is a new feature available for the ImageCue media server, developed in response to the industry’s transition to streaming performances for online audiences. In the same way that ImageCue is designed to bring cueing of image & video projections onto lighting consoles, CameraCue is designed to give control of a streaming Pan-Tilt-Zoom camera and its outgoing feed to lighting programmers.

CameraCue does not put direct, real-time control of a PTZ camera onto the console. Instead, it allows camera moves between and during scenes to be embedded into a show’s lighting cues. Any camera with the ability to record & store presets and with an RS232 control option built on Sony’s VISCA protocol is a candidate for use with CameraCue. Presets for pan, tilt and zoom must be preprogrammed through the camera’s IR remote or a browser interface. Other parameters like white balance, brightness and gamma correction can also be made part of these presets if the camera’s settings allow for it. CameraCue converts the console’s DMX commands and sends them to the camera’s RS232 input to initiate a camera move to a different preset.

A profile and moving light pallet have been created for CameraCue on the ETC Eos console platform. Profiles for other consoles may be available upon request. CameraCue’s code was developed and tested on a Vaddio RoboShot 30E USB, which uses a version of the VISCA camera protocol. Compatibility with other cameras may vary.
