COVID19 Updates

July 17th, 2020

Hello everyone! Hope you are all making it through the summer months in reasonable fashion. It continues to be a challenging time across wide swaths of the performing arts & events industries. We are seeing, however, a variety of successful outdoor productions and other events that are keeping safety at the forefront. Many of our academic customers are crafting innovative plans for the fall semester ahead, with a mix of in-person instruction and remote learning. Traditional audiences appear to be many months down the road, but live streaming and recording options are coming to fruition.

We remain at your disposal for whatever production-specific needs you have, along with longer-term facility and system needs. Our sales team can work with you on wide variety of emerging needs including PPE, social distancing tapes, projection screens, outdoor-rated lighting fixtures, and much more.

We continue to forge ahead here at BMI Supply. Summer is upon us, but it will certainly be an atypical one. We know so many of you are having to cancel summer seasons, rethink the performance standards, or simply figure out how to make it to next season. On top of that, the daily cache of news tends to present conflicting opinions. We are at your disposal for whatever help we can be...crunching budgets, supplying needed gear, tracking down alternative products, or just a friendly set of ears for bouncing ideas around.

Our sales and installations departments are both open in full.

We are open 8:00am to 6:00pm eastern time, Monday through Friday.

We are shipping orders from our healthy inventory. An increasing number of our vendors are working their way back to regular hours and ramping up production.

We are gradually adding new products to our line up to assist you as you make plans to return...things like hand & surface sanitizer, other disinfecting products, various mask options, and more. Look for more "work from home" gear options as well.

It is hard to believe the end of April is here. In some ways it flew by, in other ways it was incredibly slow. News continues to be mixed. While there are glimmers of optimism for some aspects of daily life, there remain significant hurdles for the performing arts & event industries to overcome.

Our team has continued to largely work remotely, with a handful of people staffing our building using appropriate social distancing measures.

Our installation crew has remained active on various projects that are moving forward. We continue to take inquiries for rigging safety inspections, project planning, system design consultations, and much more. With many facilities "dark" for the time being, now may be an excellent time to address matters that are difficult to attend to during peak usage times.

Our sales department is working on budget quotes and other product development efforts. We continue to ship your orders, and have a number of vendors open for shipping as well. We are available during our usual hours of 8:00am to 6:00pm eastern time with our streamlined staffing plan still in place.

It has been great hearing from a number of you, and handling a number of orders for smaller projects and "at home" efforts by scenic designers and other professionals. It is an incredibly challenging time for our industry and all the great people that make it "go".

We remain open! Our sales department is working on budget quotes and other product development efforts. We continue to ship your orders, and have a number of vendors open for shipping as well. Our installation department remains active on multiple job sites that are in progress.

We are available during our usual hours of 8:00am to 6:00pm eastern time, but are operating with a reduced staffing schedule given the overall slowdown.

Like most of you, we are eager for the return of a vibrant and engaging entertainment industry.

We remain open, with the vast majority of our staff working remotely from home. Email and our website live chat are the quickest ways to reach our sales team. We have a minimal staff presence in our building, in support of our warehouse/fulfillment activities, as well as our construction personnel engaged in projects (both allowed under current NYS guidance). We will be able to ship your orders.

Shipping Note: When placing an order, please use an active shipping address where personnel will be present. If there is an alternate entrance to use, please note as such. We are seeing increasing incidences of carriers assuming locations are closed and not attempting deliveries. If you have a preferred carrier at this time, please let us know.

It has been a busy few days in our home state of New York. We continue to wish the very best for all our customers & vendors, as well as the entire entertainment industry.

We will be open this coming week, with the vast majority of our staff working remotely from home. We will have a minimal staff presence in our building, in support of our warehouse/fulfillment activities, as well as our construction personnel engaged in projects (both are exceptions to the New York State regulations announced last week). We will be able to ship your orders.

A few other notes, updates, and reminders:

Visits to our offices are suspended until further notice.
Some vendors are experiencing product shortages and backorders, due to supply chain issues from abroad. We will do our best to suggest alternatives that are readily available.
Some vendors are subject to local, temporary restrictions that limit their ability to ship product. We will advise accordingly, should an issue arise.

COVID19 has rapidly thrust our industry, worldwide, into an incredibly challenging and unprecedented state. Given the resourcefulness and passion of tech theatre & event production personnel, we are confident everyone will persevere in the end.

All of us at BMI Supply hope you and yours are staying safe & smart. We are focused on taking care of our team here, juggling individual work & family needs as best we can.

We are open. While our people are spread out between homes and the office itself, our team remains at the ready should you need anything. We are available to chat up future projects, discuss new products, schedule demo fixtures, and yes, even ship products.
